Particles series started as pandemic drawings, with spare materials, in solitude, listening to each breath, heartbeat, meditation, repetitive marks, the sound of a metronome, as survival, for peace. Counting days, hours, minutes, seconds…particles…dot by dot.….each particle is precious.
This growing series provides a personal clearing or editing space, where negative bombardment momentarily fades. The voided areas offer a space for contemplation. Compared to larger, more involved paintings, my materials and processes are unencumbered: simple and spare. I have developed a soft, smooth burnished, locally foraged, calcium carbonate ground that initiates depth and an interesting particulation of subsequent layers. Sampling of larger series shown.
