This series grew out of my forest walking practice and a longtime desire to capture, in 2D, the graceful juxtaposition of groupings of sticks that have fallen abundantly from trees. A calming resolve occurred through a purposeful consideration of positive and negative space.

The original matrix was intended to be inked. An ink-less run through the press, to make sure there were no sharp edges breaking through the paper, turned into an aha moment. Early on, soy beans were added to the plate to eliminate undercuts (see AV Forestwalk). This particular print was used as a base for additional earth matter. Eventually, the process was achieved without the addition of the beans.
